Last week Control Data … announced the 6600 system. I understand that in the laboratory developing the system there are only 34 people including the janitor. Of these, 14 are engineers and 4 are programmers … Contrasting this modest effort with our vast development activities, I fail to understand why we have lost our industry leadership position by letting someone else offer the world’s most powerful computer.

I mail out QSL cards for unusual or notable QSOs, but not routinely. However if you send me a card, direct or via bureau, I’ll always reply with my card!
The card features my photo of painted turtles basking in the springtime sun, on the beaver marsh at my QTH.
On the back, I’ve designed a layout which I fill out and print for each card. It makes for a neat presentation. However, if I was doing really high volume I’d have to come up with a scheme that automatically fills in the fields.
This full-size card has to be mailed in an envelope. I have a different layout that I can mail as a postcard, but if you follow the USPS postcard guidelines there isn’t much room left over for QSO details.
